Growing up is hard. Parenting is hard. Life is hard.

But you don't need to do it alone.

As a young adult I felt lost as I tried to figure out what to do with my life. After trying a few career paths and after much soul searching I found my fit in social work and psychotherapy practice.  In 2002 I began working towards my Masters of Social Work at New York University. After graduation I began providing social work services to elementary aged children at a NYC Department of Education District 75 day treatment program. This work was challenging, but deeply fulfilling. Although I loved my work I felt the need for a change after a few years. I moved on to working at a NYC special education preschool site providing preschool aged children and their families counseling, support, behavior interventions and advocacy services. After five years with that school I once again wanted change and felt that there was more for me to learn and explore. In 2010 I began working at the Rose F. Kennedy/Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC) at Montefiore Hospital. This UCEDD outpatient clinic provides a multitude of services to developmentally and learning disabled individuals.  In 2016, in addition to my continued work at CERC, I began providing psychotherapy and consultation services in private practice.

My experience allows me to provide individual, group and family psychotherapy for those dealing with Anxiety, Depression, trauma, family conflict, ADHD, Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, developmental delays, and difficulties adjusting to life events. I provide ongoing psychotherapy, evaluations, advocacy and behavior management consultation services. I’ve also had wonderful opportunities to lead private workshops on child development, parenting skills, behavioral interventions, special education in the NYC school system and NYS services to the Developmentally Disabled population.

My training includes regular attendance at workshops provided by NYU, PESI, The Ackerman Family Institute, Adelphi University and others. These workshops focus on working with Special Needs families and individuals, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Family and Couples Therapy,  Cultural Competence as well as other topics.

I believe that therapy offers opportunity for great solace, learning and growth.  It allows you time to express yourself and to be heard.  It provides opportunity to reflect on patterns of behavior and interactions, and make changes to help improve your feelings about yourself, your relationships and your life. I believe people shouldn’t feel alone in the world as they manage and deal with life. I believe that change is possible – it’s hard work, but it is possible, and I am there to support, guide and advocate for you along the way. My approach to therapy is multifaceted and positive, but simple and direct. I provide a non-judgmental, supportive, and caring space for you to be who you are in any given moment, but I also challenge you in various ways, within a safe environment, to develop insight and change.

Every person and every family is unique. My approach, our focus of work and our time together depend on you and your needs.
